Consept: For the forest goers and the likeminded

Already seeing green calms us down. Spending a moment outdoors in an area with trees and plants lowers the heart rate and blood pressure. Going to a forest is a fulfilling experience but also park close by has a positive effect.

In this project I studied which are the details in clothing that could encourage the user to enjoy the outdoors, even for a short time.  Starting point was to make a jacket that works in everyday use.

Materials:

Breathable and shower resistant.

The crucial areas in the garment was treated with new, natural wax coating that is developed in Aalto University. Waxed areas were made visible with colour that was added during the application process. The idea was not to create fully waterproofed garment, but something that is just enough to keep you covered in surprise shower.

Fit:

Treehugger fit

Patterns are the foundation for a well designed garment. It is crucial to understand the end use to establish patterns that will lead to a comfortable, beloved piece of clothing.

In this style I wanted to specially make sure that there is no restrictions in the shoulder area. The user can feel free when hugging the trees as well as other natural, everyday movements.

Details:

Packable with inbuilt daisy chain carry-system

The goal is to get out with the least amount of stuff to carry when heading for a small adventure. There are features in this jacket that help to alter the temperature as well as replace a backpack. The birch pull tabs treated with MetsäSkogen forrest scent helps through the days with no fresh air.
